Canadian senators in Taiwan to promote ties

TAIPEI — A Canadian parliamentarian delegation led by Senator Yonah Martin is visiting Taiwan to learn more about political and economic developments in the country and cross-Taiwan Strait ties, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During a visit that began Thursday and will end next Wednesday, the delegation is meeting with Taiwanese legislators and officials at the foreign affairs, economic affairs and defense ministries and the semi-official Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), responsible for negotiations with China, the ministry said in a statement.

The delegation is also scheduled to meet with President Ma Ying jeou on Friday.     [FULL  STORY]
