CDC warns against scrub typhus during tomb sweeping season

Taipei, March 27 (CNA) Members of the public are urged to take precautions against scrub typhus when cleaning up their ancestors graves around the time of the Tomb Sweeping Festival in early April, as the disease is transmitted by mites in the vegetation, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said Friday.

The risk of scrub typhus increases around the time of Tomb Sweeping Day on April 5, when many people walk through bushy areas to reach their ancestors’ graves, especially those located in rural Taiwan.     [FULL  STORY]
