After a preliminary investigation by police, it was found that the 25-year-old man, surnamed Shen (沈), who is a graduate student in history at National Taiwan University (NTU), and his 27-year-old wife, also a Taiwanese history graduate from NTU surnamed Song (宋), had stolen the kayak to go joyriding on the like.
