Renowned dance group Cloud Gate Dance Theater (雲門舞集) held a ceremony yesterday to
celebrate the opening of its brand new theater and home complex in Tamsui.
Perched on a hill that overlooks the Tamsui River and surrounded by lush vegetation, the theater complex consists of a 450-seat theater, a 1,500-person capacity outdoor theater and two studios that can be converted into black box theaters.
The complex is located between an expansive golf course and a well-known fort built in 1886. In addition to green lawns, up to 200 trees were planted on the complex’s open grounds.
Despite a 120-strong membership, the dance group has been without headquarters since a fire demolished its rehearsal studio over six years ago. [FULL STORY]
