Fourth seeds Hsieh Su-wei and Flavia Pennetta crashed out of the second round of the
women’s doubles at the Miami Open on Tuesday after Monica Niculescu and Alexandra Panova rallied from a set down to oust the Taiwanese-Italian duo 3-6, 6-3, 11-9.
The Romanian-Russian pairing saved seven of 12 break-point opportunities and converted five of nine to complete the victory in 1 hour, 23 minutes at Crandon Park.
It was another disappointing early exit for 17-time WTA Tour doubles champion Hsieh and her new partner after they exited in the first round in Indian Wells, California, in their first tournament together as a partnership last month. [FULL STORY]
