TAIPEI, Taiwan — Taiwan will not accept the designation of “Taiwan, China” in order to become a member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB, 亞投行), according to comments made by Foreign Minister David Lin (林永樂) yesterday at the Legislative Yuan.
Lin was invited along with Central Bank of the Republic of China Deputy Governor Yang Chin-long (楊金龍), Deputy Finance Minister Wu Tang-chieh (吳當傑) and Mainland Affairs Council Deputy Chairman Lin Chu-chia (林祖嘉) to the Legislative Yuan’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and National Defense to brief legislators and respond to questions on the potential impacts of joining the Beijing-led multilateral body.
