4,500 runners to test mettle in Taipei 101 Run-Up

challenge Sunday of Taipei 101, Taiwan’s landmark skyscraper, when they hope to conquer 2,046 steps to reach amost the top of the building.

The race, which kicks off at 8:30 a.m., will take participants all the way up to the 91st floor at 390 meters high, the organizers said.

What could drive contestants even more is that starting this year, the annual run-up will be recognized by the Tower Running World Association, which means that their scores will be included in the world-wide tour.

Now in its 11th year, the run-up will see participants ranging from 15 to 70 years old, with roughly 28 percent of them female, organizers said.     [FULL  STORY]
