Acer posts slim profit over 2014 after three bad years

TAIPEI–Taiwanese computer maker Acer Inc. (宏碁) posted a slim profit for 2014, ending three consecutive annual losses on an improved margin and cost cuts, the company said Wednesday.

Acer reported 2014 consolidated revenues of NT$329.68 billion (US$10.39 billion), down 8.5 percent year-on-year, but the company’s gross profit grew 28.3 percent year-on-year to NT$28.94 billion.

Net income was NT$1.79 billion and earnings per share (EPS) was NT$0.66, Acer said in a statement following a board of directors meeting that day to approve the financial results.     [FULL  STORY]
