must-eat Taiwanese foods among the Universiade athletes.

As the 2017 Universiade keeps rolling forward in Taipei, around 12,000 delegates from 131 countries are now living in the athletes’ village in Linkou District, New Taipei City. Taiwan News visited the athletes’ village on August 23 and interviewed the athletes about their impressions of Taiwan so far.

The athletes were asked to vote for the Taiwanese food they would like to try the most from the four most popular Taiwanese traditional items: stinky tofu, bubble milk tea, a-thousand-year-old egg, and oyster omelette. The bubble milk tea ranked the first of the most popular Taiwanese foods for the athletes and won 50% of all the votes, followed by oyster omelette (32%) and a-thousand-year-old egg (13%).
