Cable snap near Taoyuan delays 15,900 rail passengers

TAIPEI, Taiwan — A snapped cable north of Taoyuan Railway Station delayed morning transit p01dyesterday for an estimated 15,900 passengers.

Around 6:30 a.m., northbound train No. 1134 reported a power outage while sparks flashed from an overhead cable north of Taoyuan Railway Station.

TRA transportation department Deputy Director Peng Ming-kuang (彭明光) said the damage indicates that the cable had been struck by lightning.     [FULL  STORY]
