Japan Open in Tokyo yesterday as the Taiwanese duo claimed their third WTA Tour title of the year.

Top seeds Chan Hao-ching and Chan Yung-jan needed just 62 minutes to wrap up a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory over Misaki Doi and Kurumi Nara on Court 1 at the Ariake Coliseum.

The victory was all the more special for younger sister Hao-ching, who was celebrating her 22nd birthday yesterday.

The Taiwanese sisters saved all four break points they faced and converted four of six, winning 54 of the 89 points contested.

It was their third doubles title this season following victories in Pattaya in February and in Cincinnati last month.

In the singles, Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium overpowered Ajla Tomljanovic 7-5, 6-2 yesterday to advance to the final of the Japan Open.     [FULL  STORY]
