Hank Yang (楊俊瀚), dubbed the fastest man in Taiwan, clocked a time of 10.22 seconds in the men’s 100-meter sprint, smashing the national record of 10.28 seconds set by Yi Wei-chen (易緯鎮) in 2012.

Yang from National Taiwan University of Sport was awarded a cash prize of NT$60,000 (US$1,990) by the Chinese Taipei Athletics Association for breaking the record.

The world record in the event is 9.58 seconds, set by Usain Bolt of Jamaica in 2009.
