The foreign ministry has issued a protest after the name of Taiwan’s trade office in Bahrain was changed.

On Wednesday, the foreign ministry expressed its dissatisfaction and regret at the name change, which replaces the word “Taiwan” with the word “Taipei”. The office’s old name had been in use since 2004.

Bahrain’s decision to change the name follows similar name changes to Taiwanese offices in Dubai, Nigeria, and Ecuador. According to the foreign ministry, the latest change is the result of pressure from Beijing.    [FULL  STORY]
