The government is planning to send 30 young people with backgrounds in farming, forestry, and fishing to Southeast Asia. The young agricultural ambassadors will be split into two groups that will visit the Philippines and Indonesia.

The trips are being organized by the foreign ministry and the Council of Agriculture. The goal is to expand the government’s New Southbound Policy, which includes a push for closer ties with Southeast Asia, South Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

The Council of Agriculture says it is also working to expand the New Southbound Policy in other ways. The council says its Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute helps collect agricultural information about countries targeted under the policy.    [FULL  STORY]
