Taipei, June 18 (CNA) The Central Weather Bureau issued a heavy rain warning for northern 
Taiwan and mountainous areas north of the southern county of Chiayi on Saturday afternoon, due to a strong convective cloud system expected to bring sudden cloudbursts.
The bureau warned of heavy rain along with thunder and lighting in parts of Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung and Taoyuan cities in northern Taiwan.
Mountainous areas north of Chiayi and in Yilan County in northeastern Taiwan are likely to see heavy rain in the afternoon, the bureau warned.
The bureau advised people in those areas to be on alert for possible gusty winds, lightning and river surges.
Most parts of Taiwan are forecast to see daytime highs of above 33 degrees Celsius, according to the bureau. [SOURCE]
