Taipei, July 17 (CNA) Houston Mayor Annise Parker visited Taipei Friday and presented a Houston Rockets basketball signed by Jeremy Lin to Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲).

Many Taipei officials attended a welcome party in Houston when Taipei-based EVA Airways launched a direct flight between the two cities in June, but Parker was not able to attend so she arranged this visit to show her support for the route, said Lin Chung-chieh (林崇傑), head of Taipei’s Economic Development Department.

Parker, who became mayor of the city in 2010, had visited Taipei before, as the two cities have been sister cities since the 1960s.     [FULL  STORY]
