Taipei, April 30 (CNA) Taiwanese athlete Chen Chieh (陳傑) said he was surprised by his 49.67-seconds win of the 400-meter hurdle race in the first ever Asia Athletic Association’s Grand Prix meet in Taiwan Sunday.
“I was expecting just to break the 50-seconds mark to qualify for the Asian Athletics Championships,” he told the media after winning the event in Taipei.
His fellow countryman Yu Chia-hsuan (余嘉軒) also qualified for the championships after registering 50.45, beating the 50.50 threshold for the event.
Another Taiwan athlete, Yang Chun-han (楊俊瀚), finished the 200-m sprint in 20.78 seconds in the semifinal, also beating the Asia championships threshold of 21.02 seconds. [FULL STORY]
