Taipei–Taiwan’s top-ranked male tennis player Lu Yen-hsun has qualified for the upcoming Rio Olympic Games, the Chinese Taipei Tennis Association said Saturday.

The association said in a statement that it had received confirmation from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) that Lu has qualified for the men’s singles tennis tournament at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

If Lu plays in Rio in August, it will be his fourth consecutive appearance in the Olympic tennis event.

Lu improved his ATP ranking to the 78th on June 13 after winning the grass-court Surbiton Challenger in the United Kingdom, his first title of the year.

He missed most of the first four months of the tennis season this year after having surgery on his elbow, but he has reached the final of three of the four ATP Challenger events he has entered since his return to competitive tennis in May.     [SOURCE]
