of the year on Sunday, outlasting a hard-serving Romanian in the final of the grass-court Surbiton Challenger that had to be finished on an indoor hard court because of rain.

Lu fought off three set points in the second-set to overcome Marius Copil 7-5, 7-6 (11) to take his 23rd ATP Challenger title and improve his ranking from 97th last week to 78th this week.

The match was on serve at 5-4 in the first set when rain came, and the tournament director decided to complete it indoors on a hard surface.

“It was a big challenge for both of us, because you have to play a completely different style. I’m really happy I won the match in the end,” Lu said on his website.     [FULL  STORY]
