fu (林德福), was named Friday to take over the position as director-general of the Sports Administration under the Ministry of Education (MOE).

The appointment was announced by the Executive Yuan one day after Taiwan was eliminated from the 2017 World Baseball Classic after losing three games in the Pool A division being held in Seoul, South Korea.

Premier Lin Chuan (林全) said earlier in the day that the Executive Yuan will conduct a comprehensive review of the operations and functions of the Sports Administration and the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association, including personnel arrangements for the Sports Administration.

According to the Executive Yuan, Lin served as chief of the Cabinet-level Sports Affairs Council from 2002 to 2004. The council was downgraded to an agency under the MOE in January 2013 during government organization reforms.    [FULL  STORY]
