investigated in a corruption case related to urban renovation, reports said Wednesday.

Hsu reportedly used his function as chairman of an urban renovation review committee to demand bribes from construction companies, the Chinese-language Apple Daily reported on its website.

On Wednesday, investigators reportedly searched 17 locations, including Hsu’s home and the headquarters of a major construction company, and questioned seven suspects and six witnesses, a list which included Hsu, a son, a brother, and company officials. The people questioned were likely to be transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for further interrogation, the newspaper reported.

From May 2011 until June 2014, Hsu reportedly accepted expensive watches and gold bars worth a total of millions of NT dollars from two construction companies named as Paohsing Development and Leyoung Construction Co., Ltd., reports said.     [FULL  STORY]
