Reactor No. 2 of Nuclear Power Plant No. 3 in Pingtung has been restarted after a

problem with the cooling system it down on Sunday.
The reactor’s suspension pushed Taiwan Power Company’ (Taiwpower) operating reserve to 2.54 percent, the lowest it’s been this year.
Taipower, which operates Taiwan’s nuclear plants, had delivered the results of its investigation to the Atomic Energy Council (AEC) Monday morning. After a day of inspections, AEC approved the restart of the reactor at 11:20 p.m. on Monday.
Taipower issued a statement on a website glitch that has fueled speculation of data tampering.
On Monday, Taipower’s website showed that the power reserve would be “red” for four days starting Monday, meaning that it would be less than 900,000 kilowatts.
