Reports of possible Haiti embassy closure rejected

The foreign ministry has rejected media speculation concerning the future of Haiti’s embassy in Taiwan.

The Caribbean nation is one of Taiwan’s 20 diplomatic allies in the world. Media outlets in Taiwan have claimed that Haiti’s government could cut diplomatic staff abroad amid budget woes, citing reports by the country’s own media.

On Tuesday, foreign ministry spokesperson Eleanor Wang said the foreign ministry does not have any information about a change in Taiwan’s relationship with Haiti. She said the Haitian government is the best source of information on that country’s foreign policy.    [FULL  STORY]
