Tai Tzu-ying takes third at badminton tourney in China

Taipei, April 25 (CNA) Taiwanese badminton ace Tai Tzu-ying fell in her 201504250026t0001women’s singles semifinal showdown at the Badminton Asia Championships 2015 in Wuhan on Saturday, but it was still her best showing ever at the continental championship.

A day after upsetting second-seeded Saina Nehwal of India 16-21, 21-13, 21-18 in the quarterfinals, the fifth-seed Tai fell to seventh-seeded Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand 20-22, 21-9, 21-12 in just under an hour.

Tai was only the second Taiwanese woman to have reached the semifinals, following Cheng Shao-chieh in 2011. Tai’s previous best placing at the championships were quarterfinal finishes in 2013 and 2014.     [FULL  STORY]
