than the previous year and focuses on the theme of nature, Taiwan’s tallest skyscraper announced Tuesday.

The 2016 fireworks spectacular is expected to be 20 to 50 seconds longer than the 218-second show in 2015, Taipei 101 spokesman Michael Liu (劉家豪) said. It is estimated to cost NT$45 million (US$1.38 million).

“Nature is Future” will be the theme of the 2016 display, and images of fish, flowers and plants will be shown for the first time, Liu said.

Taiwan is surrounded by ocean and has a rich and diverse ecological environment, Liu said, adding that the Taipei 101 tower hopes to raise more awareness of environmental protection through its fireworks display.     [FULL  STORY]
