Taipei, July 27 (CNA) Taiwan got Monday its fourth straight win in the 2015 U-12 Baseball
World Cup of the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC), beating Russia 14-0 in a 5-inning called game at Tainan Stadium in southern Taiwan in the opening round of the championship.
In the five other games played Monday, Venezuela got past Korea 4-3, the U.S. whipped Australia 13-1, Japan blanked France 21-0, Nicaragua topped Mexico 7-4 and Cuba beat Brazil 4-1.
As of Monday, the fourth day of the opening round of the tournament which is being conducted on a round-robin basis and divided into two groups of six national teams each, Taiwan took the lead in Group A with four wins and no losses, followed by Cuba and Venezuela, both with with 3 wins and 1 loss. Korea was next with 2 wins and 2 losses, while Brazil and Russia were at the bottom of the standing with 4 losses and no wins.
