Taipei, Aug.6 (CNA) Taiwan won a silver medal after losing to the United States 2-7 in the final of the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup held in Tainan on Sunday, a biennial tournament contested by 12 teams from around the world.
The final game was played amid a cheerful atmosphere, with about 10,000 spectators packed into the southern Taiwanese stadium to root for the young players from both teams.
The U.S. was the first team to get a score on the board with four runs at the top of the third inning, edging out the Taiwanese team 4-0.
The local team was quick to bounce back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, trailing the game at 4-2. [FULL STORY]
