Taiwan wins gold at 1st Asian Junior Taekwondo Championships

Asian Junior Taekwondo Championships in Taipei Thursday, defeating his Iranian opponent in the men’s 65 kilogram weight event.

In total, Taiwan, competing under the title of Chinese Taipei, has taken one gold, three silver and nine bronze medals since the inaugural Asian junior Taekwondo event opened Wednesday at the gymnasium of the University of Taipei.

The 190 cm-tall Lee is a junior high school student from Taoyuan. He was originally a basketball player and started practicing Taekwondo two years ago.

A total of 26 athletes from 10 countries competed for top honors at the 1st Asian Para-Taekwondo Championships on an entry basis, according to the event organizer.
