TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Three Taiwanese athletes won medals at Taipei Universiade on Sunday, Lin Kan-yu won a silver and Chen Chien-chuan won bronze in the Taekwondo poomsae individual competition, while the weightlifter Kao Chan-hung also got a bronze medal for the local delegation.

Lin Kan-yu (林侃) won Taiwan’s first silver in the women’s Taekwondo poomsae. She told the press that she took the time to do her make up. She learned to handle it herself while competing outside Taiwan. According to her, this makes a positive impression on the judges.

Chen Chien-Chuan (陳建銓) got the second medal for Taiwan, after winning bronze in the men’s Taekwondo poomsae. Chen said that as the competition date was getting closer, he was using a photo of Universiade medals as wallpaper on his smartphone. “Every time I looked at my phone, I was reminding myself to do my best to win a medal. That helped a lot in driving me to work hard,” he said.    [FULL  STORY]
