Taiwan’s Chan Hao-ching ousted from women’s doubles at Wuhan Open

and her Chinese partner Yang Zhaoxuan (楊釗煊) were knocked out of the women’s doubles in the first round at the 2018 Wuhan Open in China on Monday.

Chan and Yang, ranked 27th and 23rd worldwide, respectively, lost to world No. 18 Nicole Melichar of the United States and world No. 13 Kveta Peschke of the Czech Republic 6-7 (7-4), 6-2, 5-10 in a nail- biting game that lasted 105 minutes.

In the first set, Chan and Yang warmed up quickly to secure a 4-2 lead, but their defenses were worn down by Melichar and Peschke, who tied the score 6-6.

Melichar and Peschke won the tiebreaker 7-4 to take the first set.
