Taiwan’s Hsieh Su-wei overcame a determined second-set fightback to stun the second seed at the WTA 125K tournament in Hua Hin, Thailand, yesterday.
The Kaohsiung-born world No. 107 downed Chinese world No. 70 Zheng Saisai 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 in a topsy-turvy second-round match in 1 hour, 57 minutes on Center Court.
Hsieh saved three of six break points and converted five of 16, surviving a fierce second-set comeback by the second seed to win 85 of the 158 points contested.
