Taiwan’s Lei wins individual gold at World Archery Championships

Taipei, June 16 (CNA) Taiwanese archer Lei Chien-ying (雷千瑩) followed up her team recurve gold earlier Sunday with a history-making second gold medal in the women's individual recurve event at the 2019 World Archery Championships in the Netherlands on Sunday.

Lei, ranked 22nd in the world but seeded second in the draw after posting the second highest qualification score, pulled off a dramatic comeback against the top seed and world No. 1, Kang Chae Young of South Korea, in the final to win gold.

It was the first ever gold medal won by a Taiwanese in an individual recurve event at a World Championship.

In individual competition, archers compete over five sets of three arrows each, with the winner of a set getting two points, and one point going to each archer for a tie. The first to six points wins.    [FULL  STORY]
