The association serves as the de facto embassy in the absence of formal diplomatic ties between Taiwan and Japan.

The president said during the meeting that Taiwan will grant Japanese tourists visas for longer stays to allow them to enjoy local culture. She said Taiwan is also going to open up to Japanese beef imports, while exporting pineapples to Japan.

Tsai also said that Taiwan is looking to further improve trade relations with Japan. She also said Taiwan is willing to make its contribution to regional peace and stability.    [FULL  STORY]
