The weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange opened at 8,095.93 points today. After moving between 7,999.98 and 8,095.93, the index closed at 8,053.69 points, down 54.36. Turnover totaled NT$89.16 billion.

The weighted index, excluding the financial sector, closed at 6,839.80 points, down 48.28.

A total of 2,106 stocks closed up, and 3,072 ended down with 346 unchanged. The top 10 stocks in terms of trading volume were 00632R, 2317, 2330, 2498, 3481, 00637L, 2883, 00631L, 2409 and 2881.
