The weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange opened at 8,561.37 points today. After moving between 8,597.64 and 8,537.03, the index closed at 8,563.05, down 18.52. Turnover totaled NT$66.955 billion.

The weighted index, excluding the financial sector, closed at 7,285.78 points, down 15.18.

A total of 2,311 stocks closed up, and 2,941 ended down with 548 unchanged. The top 10 stocks in terms of trading volume were 2887, 00637L, 00633L, 2002, 2886, 2409, 3481, 2498, 2303 and 2330.
