U.S. trounces Taiwan 7-2 to clinch U-12 Baseball World Cup title

Taipei, Aug. 2 (CNA) The United States beat Taiwan 7-2 to clinch the World Baseball and 201508020021t0001Softball Confederation (WBSC) 2015 U-12 Baseball World Cup held in Tainan, southern Taiwan Sunday. This was Taiwan’s second consecutive defeat by the U.S. team in the final of event.

Taiwan baseballers took a 2-0 lead in the first two innings, but the taller Americans outbatted Taiwanese in the third by gaining five runs on Taiwanese errors, including a two-run homer by Davis Diaz, for a 5-2 lead.

The U.S. boys widened their lead when Jack Ryan fired a single homer in the top of the fifth inning, consolidating a 6-2 lead.     [FULL  STORY]
