Wen Tzu-yun wins silver at World Games

Taipei, July 26 (CNA) Taiwan’s Wen Tzu-yun (文姿云) won a silver medal on Wednesday in the women’s kumite 55-kg karate category at the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland, losing to Brazil’s Valeria Kumizaki 0-1 in the final.

Wen, a graduate student at National Taiwan Normal University, said that although she has participated in numerous tournaments, this was the first time she has competed in the World Games, which attracts the world’s best athletes.

The occasion increased the pressure but she is happy to have won a silver medal, Wen added.

Wen’s medal brought Taiwan’s total haul to four silver and three bronze medals at the World Games.

Wen clinched a bronze medal in the women’s kumite 55-kg category at the Karate 1-Premier League hosted by the World Karate Federation (WKF) in Rabat, Morocco, in April.    [FULL  STORY]
