4.3-magnitude earthquake jolts eastern Taiwan

Taipei, April 6 (CNA) A magnitude 4.3 earthquake shook eastern Taiwan at 4:50 a.m. Monday,

according to the Central Weather Bureau.

The earthquake was centered 12.9 kilometers northwest of the Hualien County Hall and struck at a depth of 22.2 km, the bureau’s Seismology Center said.

The strongest tremor, which registered a 3 on Taiwan’s 1-7 intensity scale, was felt in Hualien County’s Tongmen and Yilan County’s Nanshan, the center said.

There were no immediate reports of damage from the earthquake.
