Cycling festival at Sun Moon Lake attracts large crowds

Taipei, Nov. 15 (CNA) More than 3,000 people from Taiwan and other countries attended the 2015 Taiwan Cycling Festival at Sun Moon Lake Sunday to take part in cycling challenges and enjoy a carnival filled with music, dance and circus performances.

The “Come! Bikeday” festival opened at the Xiangshan Visitor Center (向山遊客中心) along with the launch of various cycling routes, including the 50-kilometer Tanan(潭南) Tribal Village Challenge, the 30-km Round the Lake Challenge, and the 6-km Classic Ride.

Other activities, including a children’s push bike competition, a performance by the Ten Drum Art Percussion Group, a unicycle clown show and aerobic dance, were held on the vast lawn of the visitor center, attracting crowds of local and foreign visitors.

The foreign visitors were from 13 countries, including the United States, Japan, South Africa and Belgium, according to the organizers.     [FULL  STORY]
