Taiwan’s economy is continuing a steady recovery. That’s according to the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER), one of the nation’s leading think tanks.
CIER released their Purchasing Manager’s Index (PMI) and Non-Manufacturing Index (NMI) for November. Both figures are showing expansion. The PMI set a record for the longest period of consecutive expansion, at 21 months.
CIER said the figures show that Taiwan’s economy is in steady recovery. But the institution remains cautiously optimistic on the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors for the next half-year.
CIER director Wu Chung-shu said domestic consumption will be the key to sustaining growth in the coming year. [FULL STORY]
