The 2017 Summer Universiade is scheduled for Taipei, Taiwan and will take place from August 19 to August 30, 2017. The host city Taipei is gearing up for the games, also known as University Olympic Games, hoping to impress athletes from around the world.

As a host city, Taipei started construction of the athlete village on August 3, 2013, under the supervision and management of Taipei City. After three years of construction, the village is slated for completion this December. Sitting on a 20-acre lot in Linkou District, New Taipei City, the athlete village for Universiade is composed of 34 24-storey buildings in two main areas. A total of 2,200 apartments in the village are projected to accommodate more than 10,000 athletes and their organizations.

The buildings are designed to withstand strong typhoons and thwart security threats with its design of a close-end village layout, a Taipei City Construction Management Office official says.     [FULL  STORY]
