New job openings in October up over 9%

Taipei, Dec. 3 (CNA) The number of new job openings created by all of Taiwan’s business sectors for October rose by more than 9 percent from a month earlier at a time when the local economy showed signs of improving, according to the Ministry of Labor.

Citing data, the MOL said that employers in all business sectors in Taiwan signed up with government-run recruitment organizations in October to seek 109,064 newcomers, up 9.50 percent from a month earlier.

During the same period, a total of 633,336 jobseekers registered with these recruitment organizations, hoping for a job interview, up 6.45 percent from a month earlier.

The data showed that every jobseeker had 1.72 job opportunities on average, higher than an average of 1.67 job opportunities for each jobseeker seen a month earlier.    [FULL  STORY]
