Kaohsiung, July 21 (CNA) President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) said Thursday that her administration plans to double the budget for sports within eight years, as part of efforts to boost sports development in Taiwan.
The government hopes to increase the overall sports budget for 2017 by 10 percent from this year’s level, and to double it within eight years, Tsai said at a ceremony in Kaohsiung in which she presented the flag to Taiwan’s delegation to the Rio Olympics.
The overall budget includes government budget, an official sports development fund, and resources from the private sector, according to the Executive Yuan. [FULL STORY]
