Taiwan manufacturing PMI deteriorates further in April

TOKYO – Taiwan’s manufacturing sector signalled a modest decline in business environment in April, as output and new orders both fell, according to a survey.

The Nikkei Taiwan Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index, or PMI, fell slightly from 49.0 in March to 48.2 in April, falling further below the 50-point line separating expansion from contraction.

Weaker overall demand conditions led firms to cut output as well as staffing levels. Selling prices dropped further to maintain competitiveness.    [FULL  STORY]
