Taiwanese badminton players win men’s doubles at Vietnam Open

Taipei, July 24 (CNA) Taiwanese badminton players Lee Yang (李洋) and Lee Jhe-huei (李哲輝)

beat the top-seed Malaysian pair to win the title of men’s doubles at the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open GP 2016 Sunday in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The Taiwanese duo came from behind to claim the victory in the tight final match of men’s doubles.

After yielding the first set of the match to their Malaysian rivals, Kien Keat Koo and Boon Heong Tan, with 18-21, the Lee’s rallied to win the next two sets (21-14, 21-7) and the title of the tournament, a Grand Prix event of the Badminton World Federation with a total US$55,000 in purse.

This was the Lee’s first win over the Malaysian opponents, after having lost all the two last matches against the Malaysian duo, and their first men’s doubles title of the Grand Prix level events.      [FULL  STORY]
