Taiwanese-Czech duo defeats Taiwan’s Chan sisters at Dubai Open

(謝淑薇) and her Czech teammate advanced to the final match of the women’s doubles at the Dubai Tennis Championships Friday, defeating Taiwanese sisters Latisha Chan (詹詠然) and Chan Hao-ching (詹皓晴).

Hsieh and Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic cruised past the Chan sisters 6-2, 6-1 in a semifinal match lasting only 56 minutes.

The Taiwanese-Czech duo will next play Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic and Ekaterina Makarova of Russia Saturday.

Earlier Friday, Hsieh crashed out of the women’s singles after
failing to make a comeback in the third set and losing to the Czech tennis player Petra Kvitova 6-3, 2-6, 4-6 in a hard-fought semifinal thriller lasting two hours and ten minutes.     [FULL  STORY]
