Taipei, Feb. 4 (CNA) Weather during the upcoming nine-day Chinese New Year holiday will change from cold and dry to pleasant to partly wet at the end, the Central Weather Bureau said Thursday.

After a relatively warm Thursday, a cold wave is expected to dominate the weather in Taiwan Friday through next Tuesday, the bureau said. The extended holiday will begin Saturday, a day before Chinese New Year’s Eve.

During the cold snap, open areas along the coast to the north of central Taiwan could see lows of 6 degrees Celsius in the early morning hours, the bureau said.

However, the cold wave is not expected to bring precipitation, so the weather will be suitable for outings from the start of the holiday, it said.     [FULL  STORY]
