No plans for US trip by President Tsai: Foreign Ministry

The foreign ministry says it is not planning any trips to the United States for President Tsai Ing-wen. The statement on Monday afternoon came after US President Donald Trump signed the Taiwan Travel Act.

Under the bill, senior Taiwanese officials will be allowed to enter the United States “under respectful conditions” and to meet with US officials, including people from the State Department and the Pentagon.

President Tsai has not visited the US since taking office in 2016. However, she has made brief stopovers in major US cities multiple times on her way to visit Taiwan’s allies in the Pacific and Latin America.    [FULL  STORY]
