first athlete to defend the women’s singles All England Open title in the last 10 years by defeating world number two Akane Yamaguchi at the 2018 Yonex All England Open Sunday.

Tai defeated Yamaguchi 22-20, 21-13.

The two have competed 10 times recently, of which each player won an equal number of five matches each.

The first game saw the two struggle to keep a lead as the scores were kept very close until when a tie was made at 20-20, Tai scored two straight points to win 22-20.
