Three Taiwanese naval vessels are making a port call in Nicaragua as part of a training mission.

The Central American nation is one of Taiwan’s diplomatic allies.

The vessels arrived in the Pacific harbor town of Corinto on Monday. They are scheduled to take part in joint exercises with the Nicaraguan military. Diplomats from Taiwan and Nicaragua say the three-day visit will strengthen friendship between the two sides.
